  1. You won’t believe! I found a male albino hedgehog to be a mate for my female!

I am sooo excited! I will get him tomorrow! I am so psyched!

Help us name our male albino hedgehog with a “K” name!

    Names of our other animals:
    Kaptain Knickknack – dog
    Knosey Konversation – dog
    Kurious Kissyface – dog
    Kokonut Kreampuff – hedgehog
    Kalypso – goldfish
    Kalico – goldfish
    Mr. Klean – pleco/sucker fish

I am so happy to have found him, and he REALLY needs a home! What a blessing to have found him!

I have been given the distinct honor of taking care of my grandson’s albino hedgehog.
First, is there any need to bathe them. My grandson would put him in the tub with warm water because his toenails would get dirty. Is there anything that can be added to the water or should I just gently rinse him with warm water. Second, is there anything that could be added to the bedding to help eliminate the odor?
Any information or help you could give me would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello Maxine! Great questions!

Yes, there is a need to bathe them, just as with any animal. Depending on how dirty they are will depend upon how frequently they need this to be done. You may want to check out my blog post about how to bathe a hedgehog: http://ExoticAnimalLover.com/2008/09/how-to-bathe-your-hedgehog – That should help you greatly.

Secondly, yes, you may want to readjust the bedding you are using for your hedgie. Out of all the litters I’ve found and tried, nothing has compared to using corncob bedding. Check out my post on Best Hedgehog Bedding: http://ExoticAnimalLover.com/2008/10/what-bedding-is-best-for-hedgehogs

You can also add such a thing called “Critter Litter”, which are little clay balls you may sprinkle throughout the fresh bedding in the cage. This eliminates a lot of the odors.

Hope that helps, Maxine. Feel free to come back any time, and let me know if these tips helped you out.

I have quite a few posts on hedgehogs on my site, if you use the search bar at the top right and use the keyword “Hedgehog” to search through the articles I’ve written.

    Kimberly :)
