Outraged at Ignorant People Who Are Blind to See the Destruction

I have a rant today…

The Reason?
fbgroupI joined a group on Facebook today called “Stop the Massacre of Dolphins & Whales”.

If you go there, you’ll see a photo of a whale, bloodied, being pulled out of the ocean, upside down up to a large ship (shown here to the right). You’ll also see a great write-up about the massacre.

It’s disturbing because we really don’t need to harvest them for anything!!!

I left a comment on the group page, @ 1:41 pm today, that said:

“This is so very horrendous to have to look at…even more horrendous that it is actually happening…

It’s not a movie with serious graphics…It is really happening…Thousands of whales are being slaughtered, most of which are endangered, critically endangered or threatened…

Unbelievable!!!

Kimberly @ ExoticAnimalLover.com”

No word of a lie…@ 3:22 pm, I was rudely emailed by an angry person, which I won’t name here, that said,

“tha whales that are endangered are protected. it is illegal to hunt them. also Humans have also brought tha population of Gray whales back from endangered to a healthy population. Dont come to conclusions after hearing one persons biased side of tha story. As Humans, yes we kill animals, but we protect them more then anything. which is more than I can say for tha whales. do you think that if tha whales were running out of food they would start to conserve? do you think that if whales noticed a population dying, they would care? 100% not. they would wait to realize and die slowly anyways. they should be thanking us for our protection considering they are to inferior to do so themselves.”

How Did I Respond?
Honestly, this is the wrong week to feed me lines of rudeness and ignorance…I’ve had enough, in many areas that I’m passionate about.

I guess, I’ve been pushed to the brink of “I Can’t Take Stupidity Any Longer”!

Here’s what I wrote back:

“Wow…you sound like an angry person…

Take a look at the sheer numbers of animals alive today in each of the endangered species…

As for the Gray whale…wow, that’s 1 species of whale…kudos to the humans that destroyed them to the brink of extinction.

…And do you HONESTLY think there are no whales being slaughtered that are endangered…Simply because they are “protected” does not mean that they aren’t being killed…

We have been put in charge of being the caretakers of the Earth by God…He did not put whales in charge!

Please, if you are just angry, don’t attack those of us who care and are trying to make a difference in the world for the better…

Is it really hurting you when people try to protect them?

I just don’t get it…

If you don’t have anything nice to say, please don’t contact me…I have enough negativity I come across on a daily basis…

Have a marvelous day, M*&^%$! [name protected]

Kimberly :)

Come on people…Seriously? There are people out there that really believe this stuff! What kind of logic is this?

By the way, this person actually joined the group, just so they could write on the wall and send me an evil personal email. Wow…nothing better to do, I guess!

***

I hope you feel as outraged as I do about this Whale topic on Exotic Animal Lover! Until next time…

Live Exotically,

Kimberly Edwards :(

P.S. Show your support for saving the whales and dolphins by joining that Facebook Group:

  1. Your comment box above says “speak your mind” … so I will.

You are right Kimberly in saying that we are the caretakers of this world. We are.

I thought it was interesting that the “rude commenter” says they they should be thankful that we are trying to save them… Interesting that we wouldn’t have to worry about saving them if we had not put them in an endangered situation in the first place.

Another interesting point that the “angry commenter” said was that they wouldn’t do the same for us… I was thinking well they aren’t in charge we are, BUT more so than that is that wild animals don’t just consume and consume and consume and consume and consume …

…until everything around them is gone. They eat because they have to, the are very nature friendly, so based on that they would have never put anyone, thing, or animal in an endangered situation.

Oh yeah, one more point that the “furious commenter” made, was:

“do you think that if tha whales were running out of food they would start to conserve?”…

That would presume that we are running out of food, and that we have a right to eat and kill them to the point of extinction. Last I heard more than 60% of Americans are considered obese, and I don’t think many of them have tasted whale before. If we are running out of food, then why don’t we just grow raise more …w/e you get my point.

Anyway, very interesting post…I can see that it has you all fired up.

Take a deep breath and just know that everyone isn’t as sweet as you. LOL
;) Have a great day KT.

The truth of the matter is that human beings do not know what whales think or how they feel. They have a complex language that has not been deciphered. They communicate over huge distances. They have large, specialized brains. They sense and know much more than many assume. They have long lifespans as well. It is arrogant to assume that they are nothing more than just so much food.

At least the indigenous peoples used to have some sense of life sacrificing itself for life, not that, that is the end-all-be-all of how to view killing whales.

Frankly, the nonchalant attitude about killing carries over into humans making war on each other as well.

With some people, life is cheap and so are souls regardless of the species. I don’t want to overstate it, but It’s unenlightened and compassionless.

    Tom.
Im glad you did make a few better points, unlike her friend Kevin.

I am the “furious commentor” lol, (no need to protect me haha, Kimberly knows me as MAJIN.) now try to bear with me, because I am so completely infuriated mind you. I actually just punched my girlfriend out for no reason. I do that sometimes, just get violent for no reason thats why I lashed out at Kimberly in such “anger” haha cause everything I said was so angry, not just an argumentative opinion. (maybe a little forward but really, furious?)

She has tha nerve to go one step further and lie about me to try and make it look worse then it ever was or needed to be. She said I had nothing better to do then join this group to write on the wall and send her this “EVIL” (????) personal email (said tha one who had nothing better to do but let it ruin her day, and write an entire blog about it???lol). i had been a member of this group, long before Kimberly, not to mention the most constantly active member in the group, but she never even bothered to read back less then even 5 posts to see what had already been discussed. I didnt need to be a part of the group to msg her, but I was one anyways.

I dont argue that there is a lot we can still learn about whales or dolphins. But we are doing things. and a lot of ppl are neglecting to give credit to those who are out there helping those and all other species to better themselves. not all animals that become endangered is because of Human hunting. plenty have done themselves in or almost done themselves in until Humans stepped in to save them. If we only ate animals, and didnt study them to increase and evolve our own, and tha animals knowledge and personality then I might consider that more cruel. but we run sanctuaries all over this world where humans pay to admire and love these creatures.

If I thought it was that wrong to hunt and kill for food and clothing etc.. and I was fighting for it to stop. I wouldnt only fight for some animals. I wouldnt eat meat, period, but not kimberly. She will still show you how to prepare a delicious lobster meal on youtube, while maintaining an undying love for animals. that makes me sick, because just as the killing of whales is regulated, so is the killing of lobsters. but I guess that only whalers are abusing their rights as superior beings.

If I was say a meatarian, and I had some sort of belief that killing trees and plants was wrong, so I didnt eat vegetables, because I believed that it is more fair killing living organisms that were built able to defend themselves. If I felt that taking that precious HARMLESS life was more wrong then killing a cow or whale, that could at least have its own fighting chance for survival, that would be my perogative, but I wouldnt push my beliefs on you. and I dont hang out at sea world or marine land with picket signs in tha parking lot saying whales dont deserve to live. so dont show up at my dinner table saying you dont have to eat that to survive. because vegetarians dont have to eat what they eat to survive either. there are lots of alternatives for either of us to CHOSE.

  4. Lilyruth says:

Some people are just plain ignorant and stupid. Whales are such beautiful animals and its ashame the way they are slaughtered. STUPID< STUPID!!!and makes no sense… I do not blame you for getting angry…

  5. Wow…There you go people…That’s what I’ve been dealing with since then…

Not only that, he’s followed me around on YouTube making horrendous comments about me, that I couldn’t even utter here. Classy…really classy…

Yes, I eat fish, I eat seafood, and sometimes other meat too, but never if they are endangered.

No one was saying that the issue here wasn’t that there needs to be more policing and regulation. Yes, I believe that…

However, you attacked me simply because I thought it was “horrendous” what’s going on…

Also, if you take a look at his comments on the group since all of this ensued, from what I’m told because I have to block him everywhere I go now, he’s leaving all kinds of remarks that are completely ignorant to other people, not to mention saying things like, “whale hunting season, my favorite time of year” and something like, “kill them all…hahaha”…Come on…

I believe, whoever joins this group, or any other group to save animals for that matter, should be welcomed with open arms.

You don’t have to be a vegetarian or vegan to care about animals and want to save endangered species.

The real issue of why I said what I said from the beginning is because many whales and dolphins are being killed that are protected and it’s not policed…Whales don’t swim around with a huge “P” on their back so that everyone knows they’re a protected species…

Anyway, I’m in the group because I want to save whales and dolphins…You don’t have to agree with me on any other points, if you don’t want to…

However, Majin, the personal attacks must stop…it’s ridiculous…and you’re not proving any points here.

Also, even if you’re just joking, which who knows if you are, about punching your girlfriend, so not funny and a terrible analogy, if that is what it was…

If you are so “irritated” about everything, why not just find another group???

    Kimberly :?

  6. I agree Lily…I appreciate your input…

Obviously, this is an extremely touchy subject…for which I’ve been being verbally attacked now…

    I just don’t get it…

    Kimberly :(

  7. I haven’t heard one word of kindness come out of your mouth Majin…

About the Facebook thing, talking about writing me an email was just an example of what you do…And…I know I’m not the only one you have emailed about this stuff either…so, no, it’s not just me, but people in general that you want to verbally joust with about the issue…

Not really sure why you joined the group, and I didn’t go and delve into pages and pages of comments on the wall, as most people don’t when they join a group. I read the first page and wrote a comment to support the cause…

No one said that people aren’t out there trying to protect these species of whales, as evidenced by over 25,000 people in that group alone…I believe there are some ships out there that follow the rules, but many that aren’t…

Back to the main point, which will be the ONLY thing I will comment on about this matter that got WAYYYY too far out of hand now…

I joined the group because I believe it’s important to save whales and dolphins. I think their slaughter is sad and needs to be policed…

    Kimberly

  8. Richard Head says:

Lily. it is a shame tha way any animal gets slaughtered. Not just whales. tha difference is that whales have to be slaughtered in order to kill them. Cows and Lambs dont. but we farm them for ourselves. it is not much different. I could understand getting that upset about it, if they caught whales or dolphins and slowly poked them to death with hot pokers, laughing all tha while. Out of those 25000 members Kimberly is talking about, we have just reached 400 posts. and probably 80 of those are me. of tha 300-320 other comments, most of them bash humans, and how Barbaric we are. And how we should be slaughtered tha same way. I argue my points, ppl get rude with me and can not display intellegent conversation or present a decent arguement. so I make stupid sarcastic comments opposite to those that can not bother to show signs of logical thinking.

Kimberly, my first comment to you, was not one of those rude ignorant comments in my opinion. maybe we have a different definition of anger. You did not appear to be one of those people so I did not talk ill about you, and I did not bring it in tha public forum where it was obvious you had not read back, I just wanted to personally fill you in on some of tha arguements against your points about being endangered. Im not sorry that you took that tha wrong way. I am sorry for the other things I said after. those were out of anger, because it seemed instead of challenging my theories about tha endangered whales not being hunted, (which you have since done), you first seemed to instead lash out in anger at me publically, exagerating, and not giving me a chance to defend myself. those rude sarcastic comments I make, are for tha ppl who dont bother to read back, even a little bit, and see what this persons opinions are. if you take them seriously and that makes you hate me. then that is fine. but for you to say that I joined that group to hate on you, and inject that I have nothing better to do then write you a one paragraph comment, (while wasting your time to make an entire blog about it venting about me.) I did not follow you around. you posted links. so should I have just let everyone but me follow them just to let you make points about things such as sarcastic comments leaving out what it was intended for? and lie (or unkowingly make accusations to back your play)? I dont mind being judged, but at least let me have my say. You are completely right Kimberly, you are not tha first person I have msgd. but you are tha first person that took it tha wrong way, and became what seemed to be completely hipocritical. you seemed more “furious” or “angry” then me. I dont normally send msgs unless tha person looks like they could hold a convo.. If I was angry or trying to insult you, I would have done it on tha wall where I normally do. Every other msg I’ve ever sent has normally bin replied to and answered with civil conversation. sometimes arguementative, but never angry. I want to hear what other ppl have to say so I can decide my own truths. I dont block it out because I love animals. My mind could be changed if I felt that someones arguement was real enough. I try to think as logically as I can, and I dont see whalers accidentally killing too many endangered species by accident. I am sure with technology today whalers are able to make a distinction between whats legal and illegal. after all it is their proffesion and I dont think it should be judge by someone because they watched a few greenpeace videos. with editing you can make something look however you want. in regards to that I appreciate that you let my comment through Kimberly. Once I noticed it had to be moderated I honestly thought you would reject it, because it seemed that you wanted to edit this story to make yourself look right. Im glad you at least will leave other people to make up their own minds.
you dont have to worry about me “following” you around. you will never personally hear from me again. you will however keep seeing my posts in that group if you stay there. dont take too many of them seriously, but I doubt you would have anyways. good luck with the direction you are moving. I sincerely hope you end up as an animal caretaker or something along those lines, because you do seem right for the job. you seem very passionate about animals which I think is a good quality to have.

Peace to all those that have to deal with tha killing and slaughter of animals, to provide for tha rest of us. it is a tremendous thing you are doing. may tha policing maintain and improve, and may tha methods become as less violent as possible. also Peace to all tha animal lovers that maintain sanctuaries for animals, away from predators. where we can help each other grow to evolve and understand one another. it is a tremendous thing you are doing. its what makes us different then them. You deserve praise, tha human race is not barbaric.

This website is completely opinionated and hardly shows any facts.
If this is supposed to be informational, then make it objective, not subjective, because most people can’t tell the difference between fact and opinion.

  10. Wow Maddie,

I’m sorry you feel that way. Actually, since this is my blog, I can tell the stories I want and give helpful information too.

When I give opinions, I make it known it is my opinion. However, most of what I talk about here is fact from other resources too.

Thanks for coming by and giving your opinion Maddie.

  11. Hi Kimberly:

It never ceases to amaze me how people will come to a website of another person, express their opinion and tell you it’s wrong for you, the owner and author of the blog, to have an opinion…

That’s what blogs are all about – a logged journal of whatever the author wants to talk about or say. It’s their “soap box”, if you will…

Everyone is free to start their own blog, free of charge…

Kimberly, just keep on doing what you’re doing. I think you’re fabulous, you’re informative and you genuinely care about animals and the goings on in the world.

  12. Thank you so much Ingrid! I really appreciate your support!

Yes, anyone can go to Blogger, Xanga, MySpace or WordPress.org and get their very own blog free of charge.

A blog is for expressing whatever opinion or non-opinions as you see fit and as you wish…I guess unless someone’s paying you for not having an opinion, that’s something else entirely…

…But aren’t most things in life all about your opinion or the opinion of other people, simply repeated?

Good comment Ingrid. Have a great day!

    Kimberly :)
