When I was setting up my aquarium, I couldn’t find a gravel I liked enough for the bottom.
So, I went looking at glass beads, and couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for. Either they weren’t pretty, or there weren’t enough to cover the bottom of my aquarium.
I perused the craft aisle at the dollar store and found an amazing alternative!
Have you seen the plastic Ice Crystal Gems that people use for in the bottom of vases with flowers in them? They look like just that…ice crystal gems!

A pleco fish is a bottom-feeding/algae-eating fish typically acquired for freshwater aquariums originally from South America.
They are those “sucker fish”.

Plecos prefer warmer water and are pretty self-sufficient.
They eat the green algae in the tank and excess food off the bottom that the other fish can’t or don’t.
They clean when you don’t want to.
One of the girls at the pet store loved them, one hated them.
Why?
Well, the girl that loved them loved them for all the reasons I mentioned above plus they are laid back fish…They’ll find a small crevice or spot to hide during daylight and [ ... ]

I just found out that one of my newest friends, Dani, had a Canadian Lynx as a pet…Not only that, it was an indoor cat!
I asked her to fill us in on having a Canadian Lynx as a pet.

In my opinion, every pet you have should be cleaned at some point in time.
When I clean out the cage for my African Pygmy Hedgehog, Kokonut Kreampuff, every week, she also gets a bath.

She wouldn’t voluntarily go into a small pool of water and clean herself off…She’s more concerned with trying to get under her blanket to sleep, so I have to give her a push in the right direction. Plus, it is just too cute!
Hedgehog Bath Checklist:

Washcloth
Nail brush – only to be used for your hedgehog [ ... ]
Kalypso, my Diva red capped oranda goldfish, is slightly aggressive.
I initially had a calico telescope goldfish, named Klyde, and he was beautiful, sweet and very responsive. So, I felt he needed a friend.
Therefore, I marched myself into the pet store and chose a beautiful fish, that looked like a girl, that could be Klyde’s girlfriend.
Within 5 minutes of being in the bowl with Klyde, Kalypso started nipping his tail. Not good…She took quite a chunk, and I had to quickly remove Klyde to his own tank again.
Actually, Klyde went downhill from that point on…He got ick and cotton on him…He [ ... ]

Let me tell you a story about what just happened in the past few days…
It has been an extremely busy week, and I didn’t feel like cleaning out Kalypso’s 10 gallon fish bowl. She has 2 filters with bubbles and a floaty fish toy that she loves snuggling and pushing around the bowl.
Kalypso has grown quite a bit in size since I got her in the spring. I’d say she’s more than doubled in size. So, I got this new 10 gallon bowl just for her as an upgrade from her 5 gallon [ ... ]

I am floored at how many toys and accessories I see at pet stores and online from pet suppliers. The possibilities are endless!
However, I completely understand how an exotic pet owner likes to spoil their special adopted friend! My hedgehog doesn’t even really play with toys, but I have a ton of them for her anyway, just in case…LOL…
But, I know from experience that exotic birds and parrots are very playful, intelligent and need constant mental stimulation.

Well, I was on a friend’s blog today, SunEGrl Loves To Shop, and she was talking about a rise of incidents in Hotels and on Cruise Ships since 2004.
I guess, it doesn’t matter if you’re staying at a 2-star hotel or a 5-star hotel, it is just as likely that you could be staying in an infested place!

I was in Dallas a few weeks ago, and I still have a little bump from where I was bit by a single fire ant, also called red ants, by the pool.
I am not kidding!
They call them fire ants because it burns when you are bit by them. They pack a wallop! Problem is, you usually don’t get hit by just one. You probably stepped in an ant mound without even knowing it!
