Manta Roller Coaster Opens May 22 at SeaWorld
Not only can you check out all the cool ocean animals when you visit SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida…
…but you can go on all the adventure rides too.
The Manta is a roller coaster that opens on May 22nd, 2009!

Now, I don’t know about you, but I LOVE roller coasters and adventure rides…
Not only is this a roller coaster, but it’s an exhibit in it’s own right! All the while you’re waiting in line, you get to see marvelous manta rays, a giant octopus, sea dragons, seahorses and other exotic fish.
There are 10 uniquely configured aquariums around and above you! There will be about 3,000 fish and rays swimming around being amazing to entertain you the entire way through the queue!
Out of the 400 species of rays found throughout the world, 8 of these species will be showcased on the Manta – there will be 300 rays in their year-round aquarium…How cool is that?
Did you know a school of rays is actually called a “fever”?
Anyway, check it out at RideManta.com and check out more awesome info about Manta and enter the contest and you could win a “Front of the Line” pass to Manta when it opens.
Also, if you take part in the “participate and win” portion, you can even get a complimentary electronic photograph of your Manta experience when you come visit the park!

Do You Know How A Pearl Is Made?
June 4, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
One of my Facebook friends, Monika, posted this great information on her profile today, and I felt I had to share it with you:
“Do you know how a pearl is made?” The old man asked me.
An irritant enters the shell of an oyster; sometimes very small, sometimes not so small.
The oyster, aware of it’s pain, begins to cover the irritant’s jagged edges with a solution created from inside itself. It will continue to slowly cover the invader until it no longer feels pain, until what we call the pearl is formed.. The oyster does not hate the irritant, it simply responds according to it’s nature, and creates out of it’s pain a jewel.
There is no pearl of hatred.”
~ Unknown
Wow…Not only did we learn something about how a pearl is made, but maybe we can take this excerpt and apply it to our lives and the pain we experience.
If we could make a jewel out of every hurt and pain we have inside, we could make this world, and ourselves, a better place to be!

Out of Hedgehog Food at the Pet Stores
May 29, 2008 by Kimberly · 2 Comments
This is a first…Anytime I have ever gone for hedgie food at the store, my hedgehog’s staple food, I have never ever had a problem finding it.
No word of a lie…I went to 5 pet stores in our area, and every single one of them was out of hedgehog food. A conspiracy? Maybe…LOL…
Not really…but now what?
Well, I went online immediately and thought I’d try a new shopping search engine for pets, ShopWiki.com/wiki/Pets, that I’ve been wanting to use for a while.
It worked out very well…I figured it would since it’s a wiki site.
I looked up hedgehog food and it spit out 59 results of different products, but it also shows you everywhere it’s available online, and for what price…Really neat!
I’ve been limited to 2 different brands of hedgie food, Sun Seed and Brown’s, when shopping locally, but online I saw brands I used to buy for my previous hedgehog years ago that I, and she, was especially fond of.
So, now I have ordered the Vitakraft Hedgehog Food to spice up Kokonut’s diet! I remembered, it looks like human trail mix, it even has little dried shrimp in it from what I remember. You can just tell it is healthier, more fresh and natural than the little pellets you can get for them.
What I thought was the coolest thing on the search engine was:
You know when you go to the store, and forget the brand name of the product you want to buy, but remember it was in a blue box or a pink bag? You can Read more

Have You Lost a Pet? Here’s a Site to Help You Find Them
May 20, 2008 by Kimberly · 9 Comments
If you have ever lost a pet, or had someone steal your pet, you know the sheer panic that ensues…
If you don’t find them that day, you try thinking of any way possible to get the word out to find your beloved pet…Putting up posters, going door-to-door, calling shelters…then what?
All of these options take a lot of time…crucial time! In fact, by the time you organize and print fliers, your pet could be miles away or long gone.
I was “stumbling” online the other day and came across a really neat site that helps you find your lost pets. It is a proactive service that helps spread the word about your pet being lost, or if you have found a pet.
You pay for a package, which makes sense for what kind of area you lost your pet in, from rural farmland all the way up to a large city, and depending upon the package, FindToto.com will actually phone your neighbors and notify them of your lost pet with descriptions and your contact information all within 1 hr of purchasing the package.
It is not just a database where your listing collects dust. It is truly a proactive approach, like an Amber Alert, for missing pets. It’s like an APB for pets.
Of course, most people have a lost dog or cat, but some of us pet owners have quite interesting and unique animals to report if they went missing…LOL…
What a fantastic idea. Their service is classified and registered by The National Do Not Call Registry as an exempt organization, so you can guarantee that your neighbors will get the call 7 days a week! The service will call between 9am – 7 pm Mon-Fri, and 10am-6pm Sat & Sun.
The service will even leave a message with all of the details on answering machines and voice mail to ensure that everyone gets the call. Their support line phone # is
877-738-8686
If you have a found dog, or other pet for that matter, you are also able to report it at FindToto.com. I was so impressed by this service that I had to share it with you…It’s crucial to a pet owner to Read more

Learn How To Grow Your Exotic Animal Practice
May 13, 2008 by Kimberly · Leave a Comment
I was “stumbling” around the net the other day and happened upon this website that caters specifically to the Toronto Veterinarian, and helping them grow their practice.
They say that they help attract more patients, generate word-of-mouth referrals, and improve your patient retention and loyalty.
Neat…I knew that there were companies out there that provide help with marketing your business, but I didn’t know they had them that specific as to focus on your Toronto Animal Hospital.
Actually, it’s not just for animal hospitals, they’ll help you grow your practice, whether it is veterinary, animal hospital, or an animal clinic of any kind to increase your Ontario client base, especially if you are in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
They say they are the premier promotional consulting agency for animal clinics in the GTA to help maintain and grow the practice! That’s pretty niche and I was impressed with that! So, if you’re a Toronto Vet (and if you’re on this blog, you probably specialize in exotic animals), it might be worth a look or a consult…
I know in the Niagara Region, it has been somewhat of a challenge to find an exotic animal vet in the area, so it is important to let us exotic animal lovers know where you are and what you offer for our pets.
